Discover Scuba Diving
Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe and feel weightlessness while swimming underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t sure that you’re ready to take the steps towards becoming a certified diver, PADI Discover Scuba Diving is a great way to find out whether or not scuba is for you. Discover Scuba Diving will provide the basic experience and knowledge to make an informed decision. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to some of the fundamental skills of scuba diving under the guidance and supervision of an experienced PADI instructor.

Prerequisites:
To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health. Prior to the experience, we will provide you with PADI’s Medical Questionnaire to ascertain you are fit for diving.
What will you learn?
Your training begins in a classroom setting, followed by learning and practicing diving skill in shallow water. Once you have successfully demonstrated some easy-to-master skills, you will move on to deeper water, free to play and explore the underwater world, all under the supervision of an instructor. If you choose to make an open water dive (such as in a lake or ocean) after your pool session, you’ll need to practice a few more skills in shallow water in preparation for this additional adventure.
What scuba gear will you use?
The basic scuba gear consists of mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, dive gauges and a tank. The student is responsible for supplying mask, snorkel, fins, bathing suit, towel, and transportation to and from the dive location. Please call or stop in Portsmouth Scuba if you need assistance fitting for snorkel, mask and fins. All other gear will be provided by Portsmouth Scuba.
